Fibromyalgia is characterised by chronic widespread pain. Fibromyalgia symptoms are not restricted to pain, leading to the use of the alternative term fibromyalgia syndrome for the condition. Other symptoms include fatigue, sleep disturbance, muscle spasms, numbness, tingling and joint stiffness.
